Purpose

The Police Department, in keeping with the City of McCall’s Comprehensive Plan, is responsible for  public safety, traffic control, code enforcement and overall order maintenance for the citizens and visitors of McCall.Members of the department share an internal vision of an agency which not only provides police service, but does so fairly, impartially, with compassion and integrity.  In order to achieve this vision, each member has dedicated themselves to further the objectives of both the police department and the City of McCall.

Police Officer: The City of McCall seeks an individual to fill the recently vacated, Full-Time Regular position of Police Officer. The primary function of an employee in this class is to enforce state and local laws and ordinances, respond to calls for the protection of life and property, conduct criminal and non-criminal investigations; make arrests and to perform other assigned law enforcement and public safety duties. Work is performed under the general direction of a Police Sergeant, but considerable latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The primary duties of this class are performed in both a general office environment and an outdoor environment that may include exposure to adverse weather conditions and to potential personal danger. Salary and Benefits: Entry level officer starting salary is $21.95 per hour, and the salary for a lateral transfer officer begins at $23.00 per hour. The City provides an excellent benefits package, including the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI); vacation and sick leave; health, dental, vision, and life insurance; a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA); a voluntary Flexible Spending Account (FSA); and an Employee Assistance Program.
